The official Vietnam e-visa system has no expedite option. Once you submit your application, it enters the same processing queue as everyone else’s. Clicking refresh won’t help. Calling the immigration department won’t help. You wait the standard 3 working days like everyone else.
For genuinely urgent situations, options exist outside the e-visa system. Vietnamese embassies and consulates can sometimes process visa applications faster for in-person requests. Third-party visa agencies claim expedited processing, though they’re essentially using the same official channels with added coordination. The visa on arrival system, arranged through approval letter services, sometimes moves faster than the e-visa route.
Best strategy for avoiding the need to expedite: apply early. Two weeks before travel gives enough buffer for standard processing plus any unexpected delays. Urgent visa situations are almost always preventable with better planning.
