The standard Vietnam e-visa takes 3 working days, but what if you don’t have 3 working days? Urgent situations happen – family emergencies, last-minute business trips, spontaneous travel plans. The official e-visa system doesn’t offer an expedited option, which leaves you with alternatives.
Some travelers report faster-than-expected approvals on regular applications, but you can’t count on it. Third-party visa services claim 24-hour processing for a premium fee. Vietnamese embassies and consulates can sometimes accommodate urgent requests in person. The visa on arrival system technically still exists for some nationalities through pre-arranged approval letters.
My honest advice: if your trip is truly urgent, apply immediately through the official system while simultaneously contacting your nearest Vietnamese embassy. Cover your bases. And next time, apply early – “urgent” and “visa” are words that shouldn’t need to appear together.
For official information and to check your application status, visit the official e-visa application.
